First entry to my OK! contest!!!

I'm posting an entry to my contest! These are from Teeyah, who copies Angelina's pouty look perfectly, don't you think? Love it, T!

Teeyah says, "My favorite story was the one on Angelina Jolie. To me, it was an answer to some of the letters to the editor who asked you to quit glorifying a couple who wasn't married. I do get their point but in the 21st century, while I still respect marriage and its sanctity, I also look up to a couple who are living lives that contribute to the world. I, for one, think that they are the ones who've inspired celebrities to adopt (like Madonna, for one) and that, to me, is a very beautiful thing. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they're both gorgeous, too!"

Thanks, Teeyah! But let the celebrity insider in me just straighten this out: Brangelina did NOT inspire Madonna to adopt. In fact, when reports surfaced that it was Angelina who helped her to decide on that and Oprah asked her about it, Madonna bristled and said, "I don't know Angelina."

When asked by Time about the issue, Madge said, "Look, I could have joined the U.N. and become an ambassador and visited various countries and just kind of showed up and smiled and looked concerned. But that’s not getting to the root of the problem–and by the way, neither is building orphan care centers and giving people food and medicine." Though Madonna never mentioned names, I'll give you two guesses.

Miss Jolie correctly guessed Madonna meant herself and her dumb blonde partner. So she retaliated in Gala magazine: "Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where he [David Banda, the boy Madge adopted] was born. It's a country where there is no real legal framework for adoption." Then she cattily added, "Personally, I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal."

To which Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg replied, "True, it might have been easier had Madonna adopted a child from another country, but Madonna doesn't shy away from things because they are difficult."

Cat fight! There's no business like show business! Oh, if I could only tell you the things I know!

And last, Madonna was actually inspired by Oprah. Madge had done a documentary about Malawi children and was influenced by Oprah's school in South Africa. She began a similar project called Raising Malawi, and that was how she found David and Mercy.

WOW! :) For once I am happy to be wrong cos I love Madge more than Angie and this is great info! Thank you for sharing that. This (among many other things) goes to show why you are Ok's editor in chief :) As I've said in my email, kudos to a great ish and looking forward to lots more.

Haha! And I didn't mean to pout when I 'posed' with Angie but glad you liked it!

Cheers,
T.
