I realize that the boys will be teenagers soon. They'll still have to share one bedroom since we live in a 2-bedroom apartment. So I've been Googling ways to redo their bedroom so that each one has a sense of peace and privacy. Check out my favorite finds for three kids sharing a small room:

IBZ Store |
This is the boys' favorite because each bed is on its own level. The boys' bed is already an IKEA Kura bed, which sadly isn't available in the IKEA store here. I don't know how we can buy another one! Maybe we'll just have it custom-made.

Ubuy |
This is my second favorite idea. It has a more grown-up feel (if you see beyond the plushies).
Amazon |
I like this because of the drawers under one bed. Always need storage in a small space!
This is great, too, because it has even more storage - a chest of drawers!
Just Bunk Beds |
This has a study area. But it's just for one kid. Maybe I'll put bookshelves there instead.
Matrix Kids |
Speaking of bookshelves, how about this one - a space for a reading nook. My kids like to read so a reading nook will be a great addition to their room.
So there! I'll need to save up for a little renovation of their room. My eldest boy is turning 12 this year. Soon, I'll have teenagers! Can you imagine it? Time flies!
I am so excited for you! I am reliving all those times I fantasized about doing that --- fixing up the kids' room/s into a fun every activity land! Alas, they're all teens now and settled in the regular bunk bed setup. Time truly flies so fast and with half a dozen kids, I didn't have time to fulfill those fun room plans so I am going to wait for WHEN you do yours and vicariously enjoy that time of a mother's life when everything is an opportunity for play and fun, fun, fun. -megsky
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved reading this! It brought back so many memories of my own kids sharing a room and sleeping like a pile of puppies—what a sweet phase that is! But yes, I totally get your eldest wanting his own space now. It sounds like you’re doing such a thoughtful job planning ahead for their growing needs.
ReplyDeleteYour list of bunk bed and storage ideas is so helpful—especially the ones with built-in drawers and reading nooks! Storage and cozy corners are lifesavers in small spaces. I think custom-making another IKEA Kura-style bed is a brilliant idea too, especially if it helps maximize vertical space without crowding the room.
One fun idea I’d suggest: adding bedroom neon signs to give each boy a sense of personality and ownership over their space. You can get signs with their names, favorite quotes, or even simple icons (like a soccer ball or game controller) in their favorite colors. They look amazing as night lights, too—soft enough to sleep with but cool enough for a growing tween. Such a great way to make a shared room feel a little more special for each of them!
